Sunny Swiss hilly landscape with farms and the Alps

Sunshine hours

How much sun reaches your roof?

Switzerland offers excellent conditions for solar energy. Depending on the region, annual sunshine hours range from around 1,500 to 2,000 hours – enough to generate electricity economically here too.

Regional differences

Ticino and the Alpine regions record particularly many sunshine hours. But on the Central Plateau too, the yield is attractive thanks to modern modules. High-altitude locations additionally benefit from reflection off snow and cooler temperatures.

What influences the yield?

Besides sunshine hours, orientation, roof pitch and shading play a central role. A south-facing surface with a moderate pitch delivers the highest yield.
